To Blog or Not to Blog

Recently I have not been much of a blogger. I'm kinda in a rut. I know it is a great way to keep up with things and I will be so glad I did it in the future or if my house burns down. However, it is becoming a "chore." I shouldnt have to write it on my "to do' list. I should enjoy it, shouldn't I? I know you are all thinking, "She works part time and only has one child!" I have had so much on my plate lately that blogging just isnt a top priority. I am really frustrated with a lot of things so I am thinking of taking a break for a while from the blog. I will probably regret it but I need to make life as simple as possible right now. I have a ton of stuff that needs to be on here but just cant bring myself to do it. Maybe in a couple of weeks, I'll get there! Hope everyone has a great spring.

Homeward Bound

After a 6 hour flight delay in Florida, which caused us to miss our connection in Atlanta, twice! We finally got to LR at 10:00pm (susposed to land in Memphis!). Kohen was out the entire flight home, including us running through the Atlanta airport.

Castaway Cay

Disney has their own island, Castaway Cay, that only people aboard the Disney Cruise Lines can go to. We had the whole island to ourselves. Too bad it was windy and COLD! One of the lifeguards told us out of 365 days a year, 30 are cold. Just our luck! We made the best of it anyway. Kohen got to play in the sand and it was really something to see. On the plus side, we are going to be on TV! While Kohen was playing in the sand, Brandon and I were sitting in chairs wrapped up in beach towels. We were discussing what was beyond the gate that said, "Cabana member only." I had just got the words out of my mouth, "I bet they are not rice farmers!" This nice lady walked up and asked us if we would like a cabana? They were filming America's Funniest Home Videos on the island and Tom Bergeron, the host of AFV, was done with his cabana. They gave it to us for free! For the rest of the day! Major bonus since it was raining and windy! To top it off, they asked if they could film us for the season finale! We will make our debut May 15! Keep in mind, we were windblown and wet headed! Oh well, it was definitely worth it. That cabana saved us. It had blankets, drinks, food, you name it. We felt like we were high rolling it for half a day!

The second day we were at Nassau, Bahamas. It was a really pretty day but to participate in the port adventures you had to be 8 years old. Kohen isnt much of a shopper so we decided to stay on the boat. See swimming pictures. That night there was a firework show. It was soo pretty. It didnt start until 10:30 so we had to wake Kohen up to take him.

The second day it was hot so we got to swim with the other 4,000 people on board.

The yellow water slide that Kohen and Brandon are on was for the little kids. The big clear one behind them went all the way around the ship but Kohen was too little to ride it. He was so disappointed. We had been talking about it for days!

On Thursday, Mamaw and Papaw took us to our cruise boat, The Disney Dream. I had this bright idea we would take a Disney cruise since we were already there. It just seemed to fall into place; the port wasnt far from Mamaw and Papaws house, it was leaving while we planned to be there, so I did it. It was fun, but we found out real quick that we are not cruise people. I thought I was going to have to sedate Brandon! He came about as close as you can get to a panic attack!!!! It was a tough 4 days but we made the best out of it. The weather didnt cooperate as well as we would have liked but, hey, it could have been much worse!

A Little Vacation...

Two weeks ago we flew to Florida to visit Mamaw and Pappaw. We stayed with them for a few days and had a ball!! They had found a bike for Kohen at a local flea market for a couple dollars. It was a hit!! They got their moneys worth! He rode the wheels off that bike! Mamaw and Papaw got their exercise also trying to keep up with him.

While it was 11 degrees here, it was 85 in Florida. I was sick and had to visit the urgent care (just my luck) but Brandon, Kohen, Mamaw and Papaw went to the beach. Kohen is a beach kid. He should have been Kellys. He loves the beach as much as she does!

I found this wreath in my attic that had these horrible berries on it. I clipped the berries off and took the wreath and this bow to Stacy. (One day while getting my hair colored, my hair girl got flowers from her husband. The bow on the vase was so cute. The next time I went to get my hair done, she had the bow for me! Wasnt that sweet???) I told Stacy I wanted something for in between seasons to put on my front door and this is what she came up with! I never dreamed it would look this good! She is amazing!

We got lucky enough to get to go to the Sugar Bowl. It was so fun!!! Everywhere we went someone was calling the hogs! The elevator, every restraunt, walking down the sidewalk, Bourbon St, I honestly have never called the hogs so many times in all my life! It was a trip I will never forget!! We met one of my friends from hygiene school and her husband down there. She is one of my favorite people in the world. She is so much fun to be around and the only person I know that can sing word for word, "Baby Got Back!" Now thats a blast from the past! Sorry the pictures are out of order. Not sure how that happened!

Last weekend we went to Branson. Brandon gets invited to a conference every year at this beautiful hotel. Last year we left Kohen with mom and dad and enjoyed some time to ourself but this year we took him and had a blast. We did A LOT in the 3 days we were there but will probably do the same next year. I think Kohen's favorite thing was riding the Polar Express. He loved it, except for the whole Santa thing!

Kelly had her annual Cookies with Santa party a couple weeks ago. I am just now getting around to updating so better late than never. The party was once again a success. The kids seem to have the best time playing together in their pj's. Kohen is not real crazy about Santa so no picture with him in Santa's lap. When we told him he would have to tell Santa Claus what he wanted for Christmas, he would say, "I dont want anything." He would rather not get one thing than have to talk to Santa!! Oh well, better luck next year!

For months Kohen has been telling me he wanted to be a turtle for Halloween. Therefore, I ordered a turtle costume. I should have known better. The boy has always hated costumes but he was consistently saying, "Turtle!" Day of Halloween, he said he wasnt wearing the turtle costume. We tried everything! Finally, we bribbed him with chocolate to wear it just a few times. He even tried to get Darrin to take it off!

Now about that tattoo. If you are reading this and you have a tattoo, please dont be offended. I am not talking about adult tattoos. I absolutely hate those rub on tattoos that kids LOVE! I have always thought they were just awful. My sister's kids loved them and loved to show you them. When I picked Kohen up at my moms one day after work, he could not wait to show me his tattoo. He has never had one or seen one before so he was thrilled! I asked him where he got it and he said (in the funniest way possible), "JEEFFF!" Jeff Armstrong!!!! Long story short, Jeff has it coming when Woodrow gets old enough!!!

Parker Homestead

This house was my great grandmothers. My dad remembered everything about it. It was moved to the homestead a couple of years ago. The pictures on the wall are what it looked like before it was restored. Pretty cool!

This goat was roaming around trying to get food from anyone! As you can see, you could put a quarter in those machines and get food. I didnt have any quarters, just dollars. Naturally Kohen wanted to feed this goat. I told him I didnt have any quarters with me so we would have to wait. Some man tapped me on the shoulder and gave me a quarter. He heard me say that! Just reminded me that there are still decent people in the world. Whoever that guy was, I hope he knows how much of an impression that made.

Yesterday Kelly and I took the kids to Parker Homestead. We went last year and it was sooo cold. Not this year, it was blazing hot! The kids were really good and still had fun.

CCHS Homecoming

Friday night we went to homecoming. It was Kohen's first game of the year. It seems like every home game he would be sick. He was a little snotty but we went anyway. He was so good. Last year he would not sit in the bleachers at all. We stayed until the end of the 3rd quarter this time! It helped that Kale, Ava and Eli were there to keep him occupied.

Last weekend was Soloman's 3rd birthday. He had the coolest Super Hero birthday party! It was a hoot especially since Neall and Becca dressed up! They are such good parents! I loved seeing all the kids in their costumes! I was super shocked that Kohen wore one. He hates costumes and anyone inside a costume! The spiderman pinata was a hit among all the kids, especially mine who hoarded all the brown M&M's. Seriously, that is all he picked up, a sack FULL of brown M&M's. Not the yellow packages, the brown ones. A dental hygienist dream! It was so funny. The boy knows what he likes, and he likes brown M&M's!

First day of Wee School was so fun except for the missing teeth thing. It didnt seem to bother him at all. I dont have any pictures of him in his room because I had to pry him off of me to leave. I knew this was going to happen but it will get better! He really does love it, he just talks and talks about it when I pick him up.

Kohen is starting a trend of doing all the bad things prematurly! The day before Wee School, Kohen had a little accident involving the gator and a hammock, which resulted in RIPPING his front teeth out! It was the most awful thing. I know it hurt so bad but thankfully no broken jaw or scars on his face. We can live with missing his front teeth until his permanent onese grow in. After the pain meds took effect, he was ok. My mom was a different story. She was so upset. It broke my heart to see her that upset but I know she was just worried about Kohen. Anyway, everyone is fine now, thankfully!

Brandon and I knew this would be our last weekend to do something because he will start harvest this week. We took the opportunity to go to the river one more time. We both LOVE to fish and just love the atmosphere up there. We just relax the whole time. This time we really did. We got there Friday afternoon with the intentions of staying in Mr. Norman and Ms. Sue's motor home that they have parked right on the river. This is the same motor home that I stayed in while Kohen was in the hospital. It is really nice and big, so we thought. When I stayed in it, I had plenty of room and was perfectly comfortable. Add a 3 year old and things change! Kohen pressed every button he could find. He found buttons I didn't know existed and I lived in the thing for 8 weeks!!!! He tried to drive it, start it, almost locked us out, it was non stop. Brandon and I were constantly saying, "Dont touch that!" Kohen and I went to bed around 9 while Brandon (who doesnt sleep) stayed up and watched tv. Every time Brandon moved, he shook the motor home and Kohen woke up. At 1:30am I was still awake! I think I finally went to sleep at 3 when Brandon did. The next morning we got up at went fishing. We caught lots of fish and Kohen did great in the boat! When we got back around mid morning, we decided to check into this cabin that was right beside the motor home. Lo and behold it was empty!!! Needless to say, we moved in. I know Mr. Norman and Ms. Sue would not have cared one bit what Kohen did to the motor home, but I was a nervous wreck!!!! We really appreciate them letting us stay! We relaxed much better in the cabin and there was a deck that went right out to the river so Kohen was in heaven! We really had a great weekend. Now we're ready for harvest! Let's cut some rice!

One Last Playdate

Dana and I took the boys to the Children's Museum before she had to go back to school. They had a big time and wore us both out also. We went to Chili's afterward to eat thinking that if would be quick and easy...wrong. We had to wait FOREVER on our food. Two hungry, tired boys and waiting does not go well together. Next we hit the bookstore. They both loved the train tables and did NOT want to leave. Dana will kill me if she knows she is on here, so nobody tell her!

Brandon got to go with us to the Nature Center late one afternoon. I think he enjoyed it as much as Kohen did! He had to read EVERY SINGLE THING! It was driving Kohen and I crazy!

Kelly and I took the boys to the Botanical Gardens in Memphis. There is a section called My Big Backyard. It is designated just for kids. It was really cool! There was this HUGE treehouse that you could slide down and wander through, plus all this educational stuff about bird eggs and bird nest that the boys cared absolutely nothing about! But, they had fun even though it was a million degrees outside. Kelly and I were melting! I will definitely go back when it is cooler. There was a lot I wanted to see but it was way to hot and a lot of walking! Next stop=McDonalds!

Mom, Shannon and I went to Cats Saturday afternoon. Mom and I had never seen it before but Shannon has seen it three other times. She got front row ticket for us for my birthday and moms mothers day. I loved it. Hayden took this picture so it is not the best!

This past week our office was closed so I was on vacation the entire week. It is not exactly the right time of the year for me to take vacation but since the office was closed I made the best of it. I will just take another vacation in the winter when Brandon is not busy and can go somewhere. We tried to do some fun stuff during the week but it turned out to be the hottest week ever!!! It was really nice to be able to get up when we wanted and not be in a hurry to go somewhere. On Sunday we went to Rose Jackson's first birthday party. She is such a sweet little thing. I will have to steal some pictures from Becca because I forgot my camera! Thanks for the invite Becca, we had a great time and Kohen got to see Soloman! The last picture is what we did a lot of....playing at home. We swam, went to therapy and the pet store (aka PetCo), weeded the flower beds, and lots of games inside! I feel good knowing that my laundry is done and ironed, my house is clean, and I dont have to unpack anything. Ready to start another week.

Up and Running

For the fourth of July, Brandon, Kohen and I along with E, Ka Ka and Sam went to the redbirds game to see the fireworks! It was a great fireworks show. I was really impressed. The boys were so good even when we had to sit in the parking garage for an hour!

When the fireworks first started Kohen said, "Look Sam!" I didnt have time to raise my flash. Iwanted his initial reaction.

Moms 60th birthday. Shannon made this cake and it rode all the way to the river. Still looks pretty good to have gone that far in the heat.

It was way to hot outside so we were "farming" inside!

As I mentioned before, Kohen loves horses. One of our friends so kindly told us to come out and ride her son's first pony. It was the smallest pony I have ever seen. Kohen loved it. We forgot to take the pony saddle so he had to ride bareback. Next time we will remember it. He loved it!

Early in June, Kelly and I took the boys to the Paragould water park. We almost didn't go because it was cloudy but I am so glad we did. It turned out to be a great day and it wasn't that crowded. Kohen and Sam were both so good. We had a great time.

These pictures are all in reverse order but oh well! For about a month my computer has been acting up. It was running really slow so I defraged it myself but that didn't help. Well, last week, it crashed. I couldn't do anything. I kept saying I had a virus and was infected. All these crazy things were popping up even when we were not using it. I took it to the computer doctor and just got it back yesterday afternoon. It is super fast and working great.

Kohen took swimming lessons from Ms. Jeanine Brawner and did great but got tired of it. He took 5 lessons and by the 4th one he was crying to get out. He can tread water and doesnt have a fit when water gets in his face anymore, so I consider that a success! Brandon wanted him to have more because Kohen has no fear of the water whatsoever, but this is how the conversation went:

Me: "Kohen, we are going to go swim with Ms. Jean some more tomorrow." (He calls her Ms. Jean)

Kohen: "I dont need to swim with her anymore, Ms Jean already taught me how to swim!"

Therefore, instead of pushing it we decided to wait until next summer for more lessons!

Our summer has been fun and busy but that's how we like it.

Kohen had a check up with Dr Sneed last Friday. Everything was great. Here are his stats:

size 11 shoe (Yes, that is not a typo!)

Speech is great. Will not have to go to speech therapy much longer.

Have an appt with orthopedic doctor to check out feet then maybe can d/c physical therapy.

Dr. Sneed couldnt believe how cooperative Kohen was. She messed with him for about an hour and he was great. I told her it had something to do with the fact that he gets to go to the pet store if he is good!! It worked. Now next time may not be so good, but we will cross that bridge when it gets here! Hope everyone has had a good summer.

Horse Whisperer!

We have been playing in the yard every chance we get. We especially have fun after daddy gets home. Brandon has always loved horses. He grew up riding and going to horse shows. He has always said when Kohen got big enough we would get some horses. I have put it off, discouraged it as long as possible. Well lucky me, our neighbor who owns the pasture next to our pond just got some horses and told Brandon we could go over there anytime we wanted. Now I have nothing against horses, they just scare me because they are so big! It really makes me nervous when Kohen gets around them. I think they are beautiful animals, just from afar!! Kohen seems to share his daddy's love for them. He is not one bit scared of them! When daddy gets home, the first thing he says is, "Can we go ride the horses?"

A Weekend Getaway

Friday morning Kohen had his 3 year check up with Dr. Sneed. All went well. We have to go back in July for some labs but nothing big. We then headed to the River (Calico Rock). We love it there. We rented a super neat cabin right on the bluff. It is the most relaxing place. We even let Kohen go in the boat this time.

Kohen was playing on our screened in porch that leads off of our bedroom. I had the door open so I could hear him while I was packing for the weekend. I just happened to see something in the tree right outside the porch. I got Brandon's binoculars to see if it was what I thought it was.....sure enough. A snake. In a tree. I called Mr. Norman to come kill it. He said it was a chicken snake. I so hope they are not going to be bad this year.

If you asked Kohen what he wanted for his birthday, he would say a combine. Well here it is! This was at mom's after church on Sunday. We had to rush through lunch, presents and cake to get a nap before the birthday party at our house.

3 years old...and love him more every day! I can no longer say, "Terrible Two's!" Really, he is a good boy. I am so proud of him. He amazes me each and every day. We had Kohen's birthday party at our house last Sunday. I invited all the kids that he loves to play with. It was a blast. I love watching him interact with his friends. We had a great turnout and a pretty day.

We have been playing outside ALOT! If it is nice, we are outside. I enjoy it as much as Kohen does. We have been working in the yard, fishing, playing baseball, driving tractors, etc. I have to make him come in to get a bath! Brandons brother, Kade, caught this HUGE bass in Mr. Normans pond. There is a first time for everything!! This is the first time Kohen has sat with the Easter bunny, Santa, etc., without screaming! Connie told him it was Konnor's daddy under that costume! Whatever works!

As Kohen says, "Eager Egg Hunting!" We went to the annual easter egg hunt at Melanie's Saturday afternoon. After picking up about 10 eggs, Kohen said he was done! It is such a neat thing to go to every year!! I think Kohen liked the bouncer more than the egg hunt!

Since we have been to so many appointments lately, I thought a couple more wouldnt hurt! Today Kohen had his first cleaning appointment! He did so good! I cant believe he did that good. Chris was really good with him and he just let her do her job! He did keep asking, "Are we done?" After he got his teeth cleaned, we went and let Michael cut his hair. He is usually good for Michael aka Mike Mo!!

This month and next month are full of dr appts for us. Friday we went to ACH to the eye clinic for Kohens annual check up. It went great and he was soooo good. I was so proud. He sat so still and let the dr look in his eyes. He followed the light and all other instructions the dr gave him! We do not have to go back to ACH, the opthomologist that we see there felt comfortable letting us go to another opthomologist in Jonesboro since he has never had any problems! Whew, one down! Tomorrow we go for the dreaded swallow study and to the ENT specialist. Will update on that soon. Have a great week!

Wee School has a trik-a-thon each year to raise money for St Jude. I am so glad I went. It was hilarious! I was super embarrased to take Kohen's trike because it is a hand-me-down from Shannon. Now dont get me wrong, I love hand-me-downs but this trike is WAY getto!! It has rust all over the handle bars and the fenders! Kohen loves it though so I took it!! As soon as they started riding, Kohen and Soloman traded bikes. That didn't last long because Soloman didn't like the getto trike either. Don't blame ya Sol! By the time it was over almost every kid was riding someone else's bike!!

A few people have told me recently that they look at my blog often, which really surprises me! I am going to try really hard to update more often. We are not very interesting people so there isn't much to talk about. The past two weeks have been a little hectic. I had the worst stomach virus I have ever had!! Usually the stomach virus last 24 hours, I would throw up, sleep, throw up, sleep. Well not this time. I was miserably nauseated for 3 days!! Couldnt eat anything!! It was horrible. Never have I been so sick that I could not function. Last weekend was Sam's birthday. Thanks Eric, Kelly and Sam for letting us be a part of your birthday! I had Sam's birthday present wrapped the week before his birthday, thankfully. Next time I will hide it. Kohen kept wanting to open it. I would tell him, " No, that is Sam's birthday present." He would say, "I want a birthday!" His birthday should be a blast this year! I stole these pics from Kelly because I didn't take my camera!

Mamaw and Papaw

Mr Norman and Mrs Sue spend the winter in Okeechobee, FL. It is really a cool place for retired people. There are tons of little communities in that one town. It cracks me up because everyone has a golf cart. When I saw this one, I just had to takea picture of it.

This is their golf cart. It was cool this day so they put the cover on it so Kohen could still ride.

We survived our trip to Florida! We had a great time. The weather didn't cooperate as we hoped it would but it was far better than being here in the snow! It was really nice a couple of days, in the 70's. The rest of the time it was in the 50's and the wind was blowing. We still played outside and got to spend time with Mamaw and Papaw! Kohen absolutely loved the beach. We are definitely going back this summer. I have never really been a beach bum but after watching him have so much fun, I cant wait to go back!

Sick of Being Sick

Kohen has had a runny nose and cough all week so I took off Thursday and took him to the doctor. Much to my surprise, he has RSV!! I just knew he had pneumonia again. Hopefully it will not turn into pneumonia because we are going on vacation in a few days. We are Florida bound! All last week while Kohen was sick, not to mention the snow that stayed most of the week, Brandon was gone. What a week for him to be gone! I now know what it is like to be a single parent. I didn't sleep much because Kohen kept waking up coughing, so when Brandon got home on Thursday night it was time for me to catch up. I slept until 9:00 Friday morning!! I do think Kohen is on the mend, poor kid!! He wants to go somewhere so bad but I will not let him out of the house! His cough is much better today. He has really been a trooper with the medicine and breathing treatments. When I get the breathing treatment out he says, "That going to make me feel better?" It is so sweet. He just lets me do it. I thought he would throw the biggest fit ever! Right now he is outside in Brandons truck (Brandon warmed it up) and I can hear the radio in the house! Flashforward to his teenage years!! I have never packed for 3 people for 5 days. I thought I would get it all in one suitcase but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. One good thing is NO DIAPERS!!!! Will post pictures when we get back. The flight should be fun!

Snow Day!

We ventured out in the snow this afternoon so Kohen could play in it for a while. It was COLD!! He and a I rode the sled but our faces were almost frozen so that didn't last long. We tried to make a snowman but to no avail!! It was still fun anyway.

Christmas was a blast this year. Kohen was really into the whole santa thing. He was not real excited about Santa coming into our house so we had to avoid the subject. I elected not to do cookies and milk or reindeer food thinking he would not go to sleep for fear of Santa coming in the house!! Brandon and I got up at 6:30 so we could see his face when he saw what Santa had left him. At 8:00 he still was not up!! We had to wake him up! He has NEVER slept that late! I guess all the excitement from Christmas Eve wore him out. I didnt get a lot of pictures because I was videoing most of the time.

This time I have a good excuse for not updating my blog...my genius husband broke my brand new camera!!!! I have sent it off to have it repaired but who knows how long that will take. Anyway, we have been super busy this past month. Kohen has had pneumonia, not once but twice! I had a baby shower for Kelly at my house, Thanksgiving, Santa party at Kelly's, trip to Branson, Dr appointment at Childrens, chrismas parties, and the list goes on and on. This weekend Brandon is gone to New Orleans to watch the Saints vs Cowboys so I have had a chance to catch up!! As most of you who read this blog know Kelly is having twins so we are anxiously awaiting their arrival. I pray every night that they will not come early!! I do not want her to have to go through what I did. Especially with two!! So far she is doing great! She had a Santa party at her house early December with an appearance of Santa Clause!! My dad did a great job playing Santa. Brandon and I had a bet that Kohen would realize who Santa was. I didn't think he would because I didn't think he would get close enough to see or hear him but he surprised me!! The party was so much fun. I think all the kids enjoyed themselves and got to see Santa!! Last weekend Brandon and I went to Branson for a conference that he gets invited to every year. We didn't take Kohen this year and we all made it fine. Kohen didn't want to go home with us when we got to moms!!! Monday he had a dr appt at ACH. Long story short, back on Simply Thick and reflux meds through the winter. The dr didn't want to do anything during the winter months to risk pneumonia again. What it boils down to is that Kohen is aspirating reflux which in turn causes pneumonia! We will wait until spring and re-evaluate. That is a glimpse of what has been going on in our lives. It has been a while since I last posted so here is a rundown on what has been going on. After Halloween, Kohen started acting sick again. To make a long story short, on Friday I took him to the doctor: pneumonia again!!!! This was the Friday before Kellys shower at my house. I sent him to my sisters while we had the shower. It was a great shower. I have never been to a twin shower so it was a first for me. Kelly got lots of neat stuff for the twins. It was small but I thought it turned out great. When I took Kohen to therapy on Monday, I told his speech therapist about the secound round of pneumonia, she suggested I call the ENT clinic that we go to at ACH and inform them what has been going on. They took Kohen off the Simply Thick in September and since then he has had pneumonia twice!!! I called the ENT clinic on Tuesday, we have an appt coming up with them. They were very concerned about this so here we go again!!!.

On a fun note...Wee School had a Wonder Walk to support March of Dimes. This orgainzation is very close to our hearts since the money raised is used to raise awareness of prematurity. Kohen was the top fundraiser and got a trophy, tshirt and a water bottle. I will post a picture later.

He is back to feeling himself now. Other than the Terrible Two's everything is going great! Hope everyone is having a great fall!!

If you are a facebook friend you already know by now that I got Kohen to wear the Mickey Mouse costume long enough for him to pour V8 down the front of it before our picture appt on Friday. This being said, I thought since he at least wore it for a little while on Friday, he would wear it Halloween night. WRONG!! I got everything washed and ready to go for the night. I got the suit on and he went crazy!!! (Just ask Kelly, she called during the middle of the meltdown!!) So a cowboy it was!! He was a cute little cowboy! At first he wouldn't wear the hat but my dad got him to wear it the rest of the night. We met up with Kelly, Eric and Sam before the kids got too tired. I took at least 10 pictures but none of them turned out so I stole one from Kelly. We then headed to moms to trick or treat with Haydee and Will. Hayden was a great Harry Potter. He really looked just like him!!! It was a great Halloween. I learned an important lesson this year...don't try to make Kohen something he is not comfortable with. It just makes us both miserable!!!

The "Almost" Costume

If you read my earlier post, you will know that Kohen loves Mickey Mouse. I thought it would be fitting for him to be MM for Halloween. I searched everywhere for the perfect costume. After losing 3 times on Ebay, I just bit the bullet and bought it at the Disney Store. When it came in we were so excited because it was super cute. I found shoes, leggings, the whole nine yards! Well, Kohen absolutely hates it! He SCREAMS when I put the hat on!!! I have worn that stupid hat around the house hoping he would think it was ok to wear it but NO! We put the whole costume on the couch thinking he might play with it, NO! One last attempt, Brandon held him while I put it on. We thought if we showed him in the mirror he would love it, NOPE!!! He screamed like we were killing him!!!!!! I was laughing so hard I forgot to raise the flash on my camera!! He will probably be scarred for life from this! My back up plan was a cowboy, a friend gave me her sons cowboy boots, chaps, spurs, hat that he really wore in a rodeo. It was all in a pile in our extra bedroom. Next thing I know, Kohen has the cowboy boots on with his pajamas!!! SOOOO.....guesss he is going to be a cowboy!!

Pumpkin Carving Party

Tuesday night we went to carve "punkins" as Kohen says, with Cathy, Eli and Ava. Cathy had all the neat tools to carve a pumpkin. I always used a knife and a spoon!!! Brandon carved Kohens pumpkin because he was way to interested in Eli's train table. Since Kohen LOVES Mickey Mouse, Brandon attempted to carve MM. It looked good to me. When we asked Kohen what it was he said, "Deer!" We all laughed about that!!

Fall Fun

Saturday Kelly and I took the boys to the Parker Pioneer Homestead. It was really a neat little village. I had never been but had heard lots about it. Since Kohen was just getting over pneumonia, I made him wear that ridiculous hat. Saturday night we went to a cookout and hayride at Leslie's but it got to cold so we didn't get to stay for the hayride. We had so much fun on Saturday at the homestead we decided to go back on Sunday!! Mom had Will for the weekend so they went with us.

Wee School went to the Children's Museum in Memphis last week before Kohen got sick. It was a lot of fun. I fully intend to go back this winter!! He especially loved the fire truck and police car. I really hope I do not see him inside a police car ever again!!!

One Sick Little Boy....

Last Sunday is when it all started. I noticed at church that Kohen had a dry, hacking cough. Then next day a runny nose. This continued all week but rather than take him to the dr and risk getting exposed to something worse, I tried treating the symptoms at home. He didnt have any fever and didnt act like he felt bad at all. I was giving him cough medicine and that seemed to help. Until.....Sunday morning when he got up he ran to me, just like always. As soon as I picked him up, I could feel how HOT he was. He felt like he was burning up with fever. It was only 101, which is high for Kohen because he never runs fever. So we stayed home from church waiting on 1:00 to get here so I could call sick-call for an appt. He stayed in my lap all morning, so I knew he felt terrible. When we got to the dr, I told him the whole saga. He listened to Kohen and said the words I have dreaded for 2 and a half years....."He had pneumonia in his right lung." WHATTTT!! I just knew it was broncitis or strep or something of that nature. I never dreamed he had pneumonia!!! I felt terrible!!! He got 2 Rocephan shots and oral antibiotics. The dr said if he is not better by Wednesday to bring him back. He didn't eat anything on Sunday, drank a milkshake on Monday and finally today he ate some chicken nuggets. I would have given him anything he wanted just to get him to eat. I even tried M&M's!!! His color looks much better today so hopefully he is on the mend!!!

A Day at the Farm

Monday we went to the farm to watch Brandon and Dad cut rice. I just got a new camera so I thought I'd try it out. The camera works great but the subject wasn't quite as agreeable!! Some of these pictures were just pure luck!! I am not going to post the best ones because I might use them for my christmas cards! Brandon failed to tell me that he had just ordered the field to be salted that we were going to. This airplane salted us and scared the begeesis out of me. It came out of nowhere!! It was such a nice day Sunday so Kelly and I took the boys to the Vanndale Fun Park. They had a big time. Look how pretty the clouds are behind Kohen.

We went and rode the tractor with Brandon last weekend. This is one of Kohen's favorite things to do. Not so much mine because I have to deal with a screaming, kicking child ALL the way home!!! He doesn't understand why dad gets to stay but he has to go home.

Last Thursday was Kohen's first day of Wee School at the Baptist Church in Wynne. He goes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The first day was a bit rough but it seems to be getting better. I knew it was going to be bad at first so I was prepared! He has been happy when I pick him up so I think he likes it. I just know it will be good for him to have some social interaction with other kids. They have some fun things planned for the fall, we cannot wait!!

I know it has been a while since I updated but we have been super busy. This has been the weirdest summer for Brandon. He hasn't been that busy due to all the rain so we have been on the go! Things are about to settle down for us because Kohen will start WEE SCHOOL. His first day is Thursday. He will go on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. It seems so strange that he will be going to school!!! I hope he likes it, he needs the social interaction desperately! Here are just a few pictures of what we have been up to. We have quite the little swimmer on our hands. He absolutely loves it, which is kinda scary since he will jump in with no one there to catch him!! I am glad that he is not afraid of the water though. I took a few days off this week because Brandon was caught up. We decided to go to the river just to get away. Yesterday afternoon we went to the caverns at Blanchard Springs. It has been years since I have been so I had forgotten how neat it really is. I guess I appreciate the beauty of it more now. Kohen did good through the hour long tour. I'm not so sure the other people on the tour would say that. When Brandon was carrying him, if I got two steps away he would holler,"Mommy mere!" It was something to do on a hot afternoon. After the tour we went to the natural spring there and then Kohen and Brandon went swimming (in their clothes!) We tried to fish some but Kohen wanted to throw everything in the boat into the water so our fishing didn't last long!

We celebrated Fathers Day and mom's birthday today. We decided it would be easier to do it all today rather than trying to work around Will's baseball schedule. Shannon made the birthday cake which was great! After all the presents, the boys played on the water slide, a regular Sunday occurrence! Kohen would much rather ride his tractor or gator than play on the water slide. I even went down it with him twice but still he wanted the tractor! Yesterday evening we went to Norman and Sue's then to Gary and Susan's where Brandon and Kohen swam. The water was freezing!! Kohen loved the pool. He laughed and played the entire time, that is until his teeth started chattering!

We have been spending lots of time outside as usual. I have seriously thought about taking my ironing board outside to get some ironing done while Kohen plays! (No I haven't done it, yet!) Kohen has recently learned to ride his tricycle. He can go really fast to have such little legs!!!

It is never to hot outside for Kohen. His little cheeks will be so red but he still doesn't want to go inside! I usually have to carry him inside crying!

Last weekend was busy to say the least. Saturday Kohen and I went to a baby shower for Claudia McCutchen, then to Will's ballgame, that night Brandon and I went to a wedding party/BBQ for our friends Bill and Lindsay. Whew! Lets just talk about the BBQ for a minute... Throughout most of my life, many crazy things have happened to me that I probably should have been embarrassed about but I wasn't. Well last Saturday night took the cake. To keep this rated PG, I will leave some details out. Bill and Lindsays party was around the pool and pool house at LaRand Thomas's house. To say the least, it was absolutely beautiful. Later in the night, Bill decided he was going to throw me in the pool. You can see from the picture that I have a dress on. I start kicking and screaming because I DO NOT want to be thrown in the pool. Well, guess what..we fall down and guess what happens to my dress? You got it, it is around my waist!!!! I hurt my arm so I wasn't really thinking about my dress until I looked down and saw my panties!!!! As did everyone else!!! I was completely mortified!!! I jumped up as fast as I could in heels, pulled myself together and tried to keep my cool. I wasn't mad at Bill at all. Seems everyone got a good laugh. Hopefully everyone doesn't remember that scene. I am so thankful that I had decent panties on, no thong or christmas tree panties!!! I am pretty sure this goes down as one of the most embarrassing moments of my life!! Thanks Bill!!

Almost 30!

As most of you know, I have been DREADING my 30th birthday for the past 6 months. Inevitably it is here. I don't know why it has bothered me so much but it really has. Last night Kelly told me she wanted to "cook" supper for us for my birthday. This wasn't out of the ordinary since we usually get together on our birthdays. What I wasnt expecting was there to be other people there....They surprised me!!! I can't believe I didn't know! I am usually pretty good at being observant but this time they got me! It was just us girls and baby boys! It was perfect. We had pizza (one of my favorites that I never get to have because Brandon doesn't like pizza), and the cutest cake ever. I dont have any pictures because why would I take my camera to Kellys for dinner??? I will get some from Shannon or Kelly. Thanks again girls, I will definitely remember my 30th birthday!

Last weekend we went to John's birthday party at the bowling alley. Kohen didn't do much bowling but had fun nonetheless. I wish I had a picture of the cake, it was so neat. It was a bowling lane with a ball on top. It was too cute!

Today we had the Halk family at our house after church to celebrate Mothers Day. We hoped it would make the day easier for Mr. Norman and Mrs. Sue since we usually have mothers day at her house. Sick, Sick, Sick..

Wednesday when I got home from work, I noticed Kohens eyes looked funny. Then they began having this gross, yellow drainage. I called Dr. Becca Jackson, she wanted to see him first thing Thursday morning. WELL...at 12:30am, I woke up with the most horrible pain in MY EAR! I have never had an ear ache and boy do I hope I never do again. It was excruciating!!! Needless to say, I didn't go back to sleep the rest of the night. At 2am I was on the internet trying to find some home remedy to make my ear stop hurting. I read that you could blow a hair dryer in your ear and it would ease the pain. I did it and it didn't!! I went to the doctor that morning also. Yep, ear infection. How old am I? I didn't even know adults could get ear infections. Stan said adult ear infections are worse than childrens! I slept the entire afternoon and finally that night my ear stopped hurting. Today is Sunday and it is still stopped up. It feels like I'm at the bottom of a swimming pool. At least it doesn't hurt! Good Grief, I will never forget that pain!!!

Friday we went to the dr. for Kohens 2 year checkup. It was by far the best dr visit we have ever had! My mom went with me which helped a lot. Kohen weighs 32lbs (80th percentile) and is 34.5 inches tall (85th percentile). Dr. Sneed said and I quote, "He is officially caught up!" Whoo Hoo!! She wants him to be reevaluated in physical therapy to see if he tests out!! I seriously doubt it but we can hope. He had had enlarged tonsils the past two times we have been to the doctor so she wants the ENT at ACH to know about that but other than that he got a great report. Only had to get one shot this time!! He is talking like there is no tomorrow. Putting 4 words together and will repeat just about anything!!! We are at the point where we really have to watch what we say!! Especially Brandon!

Today is Kohens birthday but we had his party yesterday. It was a blast! He had soo much fun. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day. We rented this train and it was a hit!! I think Kohen would have rode it as long as someone was pulling it. He is our little miracle baby! We are so blessed to have him.

Nana brought Kohen this easter basket with a very cool 4 wheeler!

He was so glad to get his "church clothes" off.

We had to have the egg hunt at mom's in the barn/shop! The boys didn't care, they still thought it was sooo fun. Mom hides candy and money in the eggs so Hayden and Will can have another prize! (Like they need one!) This time Kohen found 5 eggs, one with money in it!

Yesterday we went to an egg hunt at Stacy's. It was fun watching all the kids hunt the eggs. Kohen only found one egg but he found the prize carrott!!
